Rachel Dunscombe has extensive experience in the NHS and private sector, is a curator of TEDx events and has a passion for innovation and looking at how we can do things differently. Rachel is Director of Digital of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Pennine Acute NHS Hospital Trust. She also sits on several international, national and local advisory boards and bodies including the NHS Open Source Board, KLAS Research advisory board and ITIL qualification panel.

EWOUT KRAMER, CTO FIRELY, FHIR CORE TEAM MEMBER, FHIR FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBER
Ewout Kramer is one of the founders of the FHIR standard, starting with FHIR as early as 2012 out of dissatisfaction with then current standards for interoperability. He is on the FHIR Core Team, along with Grahame Grieve and other international FHIR experts. Ewout is a software developer by origin and the lead developer of the open source .NET reference API of FHIR. He is also a gifted speaker at many events around the world.
RICHARD KAVANAGH, HEAD OF DATA STANDARDS AT NHS DIGITAL, BOARD MEMBER OF HL7 UK
Richard Kavanagh is leading the FHIR efforts at NHS Digital. He has been actively involved in the coming about of the FHIR standard at the HL7 International Working Group Meetings. Richard is also board member of HL7 UK and sits on the Code4Health interoperability community board.
GARY LEEMING, CTO CONNECTED HEALTH CITIES
Gary Leeming has a dual role as the GM AHSN Director for Informatics and the Connected Health Cities CTO, working primarily in health informatics to deliver innovation in care and research. He is responsible for Datawell, a program creating easier methods for sharing of information for use by clinicians in the care of patients, and is building platforms for emerging learning health systems across the north of England.
Previously he has worked as COO for NorthWest EHealth where he led the development of the applications and databases for the Salford Lung Studies and the FARSITE project, amongst others. He also has wide experience in IT across the public and private sector.
CHRIS GRENZ, DIRECTOR AT ANALYSTS
Chris Grenz is the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Practice Director at Analysts where he leads by developing and training in technical best practices across industries. Chris is Analysts’ voting member of HL7 and has been actively involved in developing the FHIR standard since 2013 (pre-DSTU1).
Chris’s real-world implementation experience in FHIR combined with over 15 years of information management work gives him a broad perspective when advising clients as they work through the challenges of digital transformation in healthcare.
CALVIN BEEBE, TECHNICAL SPECIALIST MAYO CLINIC, HL7 CO-CHAIR
Calvin Beebe has over 36 years of experience at the Mayo Clinic in clinical system design, development and support. Over the last 16 years, he has represented the Mayo Clinic at Health Level Seven International (HL7). An active member at HL7, he was the recipient of the Ed Hammond Volunteer Award in 2011, and inducted into the HL7 Fellows society in 2015.
He has served two previous terms on the HL7 Board of Directors as Treasurer and was elected last year to become the (2018-2019) Board Chair, serving this year as chair-elect. At Mayo, he currently chairs the Clinical Knowledge Management Systems (CKMS) Architecture Review Board and the FHIR Steering Group.
As a strong advocate for standards both inside and outside of Mayo, he will share Mayo’s experience with the FHIR, highlighting both our success and perceived challenges (opportunities) moving forward.
NIKLAS SVENZÉN, SENIOR SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT AT THE MEDICAL IMAGING IT COMPANY SECTRA
Niklas Svenzén is the Chief solution designer at Sectra, responsible for a team of solutions architects and heavily involved in informatics within medical IT. He has a background in software development, field integration work as well as product management within the area of medical integration, ranging from DICOM and HL7 to XDS.
He participated in one of the first IHE Connectathons and has been involved in evolution of IHE ever since and is excited to see the adoption of modern technologies into the standard frameworks.
MICHEL RUTTEN, FHIR CONFORMANCE AND PROFILING SPECIALIST FIRELY
Michel Rutten is “Mister Profiling” of the FHIR community. Profiling – adapting FHIR to a specific use-case – is an essential aspect of the FHIR standard. Michel is the lead developer of the official HL7 FHIR profiling tool Forge. He is the regular trainer of the Profiling Tutorial “FHIR for Specifiers” at the international HL7 Working Group Meetings. It is exactly this tutorial that Michel is bringing to the UK for this occasion.
MIRJAM BALTUS, FHIR TRAINER FIRELY
Mirjam Baltus is FHIR trainer at Firely. She provides training courses for developers all over Europe and is one of the regular FHIR trainers of HL7 UK. Mirjam set up a condensed training course for developers especially for this event. Bring your laptop and favorite IDE.
